You went, you fought, you prevailed ... and you won a large verdict for your client. Congratulations are in order; it's a good day. After years of hard work and preparation, your client finally had his day in court. You presented the case, made a spirited and compelling argument and closed masterfully; the jury deliberated and awarded your client a nice judgment - finally.
On the way out of court, the defense lawyer smirks and says "we'll see you at the appeal" and means it. Now what do you do?
You're outraged! You just know the appeals process is going to eat up another couple of years, tens of thousands of dollars and in all likelihood, you're going to win again. You know this is nothing more than a delay tactic by the defense but your clients need money now and when they hear about the appeal, they'll be crushed. They need some money right now or they're going to lose their home. Emergency funds are exhausted, they're broke & have nowhere else to turn for help...
... OR DO THEY?
